Invitation for Two Special Events
The National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre is happy to invite you for two exciting events that are coming up, the NVAC Charity Fiesta in July and the Giving Month in December 2006.
1) NVAC Charity Fiesta 2006
Dates: 28th – 30th July 2006
Venue: Jurong Entertainment Centre
Target Audience: Youths aged 13 -25 (secondary school and tertiary students), working adults
Target outreach: 5000 – 6000pax
Youth participants: 1000pax
The focus of Charity Fiesta 2006 is to promote volunteerism amongst youths. In addition to providing information on volunteer opportunities available, we would like to take the initiative to create opportunities for youths to volunteer their time.
Hence, NVPC is supporting this programme, proposed by NUSSU Volunteer Action Committee (NVAC) called 'V-Mall', which is targeted at linking up potential volunteers to volunteer jobs from Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs), with the support of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre
We would like to invite your organisation to join Charity Fiesta 2006 by posting your volunteer opportunities on our V-Mall boards, which will function like a physical "classified ads" for your NPO, informing the public of the volunteer opportunities available as well as directing them to NVPC"s CIP Central where they might find more volunteer opportunities.
This will not only bring in volunteers for your organisation, but is also a good opportunity to create greater awareness of your organisation's cause, programmes and services.
NPOs will be able to post volunteer opportunities on the V-Mall board during the 3-days of NVAC Charity Fiesta. NVAC will also set up a booth that will allow sign-up of interested volunteers for the job(s) stated and link these volunteers to your organisation.
After signing up for the job(s), volunteers will be invited to participate in a follow-up programme organised by NVAC called ' Volunteer A Day'. This will bring the volunteers to specific NPO(s) and engage them in volunteer work revolving around the NPO. Volunteers will be treated to a short tour of your organisation and learn more about your organisation's programmes, services and beneficiaries.
We hope that you will be agreeable to opening your organisation to volunteers recruited through Charity Fiesta, towards creating greater awareness and support for your beneficiaries. Please fill up the attached Volunteer Request form and email it to us at feedback@nvpc.org.sg with the Subject Header "NVAC CHARITY FIESTA". Should you have any queries, please contact Ms Adelina Ong at Tel: 6550 9574 or Email: adelina@nvpc.org.sg.
2) Giving Month 2006
The month of December has been designated as the "Giving Month" to encourage and promote the spirit of giving in Singapore across all sectors. With this annual event, NVPC seeks to strengthen the "heart-ware" of the nation and foster strong community bonding amongst Singaporeans.
To publicise Giving Month 2006, NVPC will be publishing a Giving Month calendar which lists all giving-related activities in December by NVPC as well as from other non-profit organisations. By participating in our "Giving Month", you can have the opportunity to list your organisation's activities, which are in line with the spirit of giving, in the calendar free-of-charge. This calendar will also be distributed to all NVPC community partners which include non-profit organisations, corporations, volunteers and donors. However, due to space constraints, we are only able to feature the first 50 confirmed events in this calendar. Events with strong volunteer and philanthropic elements will also be given preference in this listing. All events should be open for public participation.
Additionally, the calendar will form part of NVPC's strategic media plan for Giving Month and will be featured in selected daily newspapers (i,e, Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao), NVPC's bi-monthly magazine, SALT, which enjoys a circulation of 8,000, as well as on our website at www.nvpc.org.sg.
We invite you to participate in our Giving Month calendar by informing us of any activities you have planned for the public in December which is in line with the spirit of giving. Kindly send a short synopsis of your event (including the date, time, venue and objectives) by 28 September 2006 to Ms Adelina Ong through email at adelina@nvpc.org.sg or contact her at DID: 6550 9574 for more information.
As part of Giving Month 2006, NVPC will also be holding a 3-day event from 6 to 8 December at the Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre. This event will include a series of fun and interactive performances by various non-profit organisations, a celebrity gift-wrapping counter as well as a photo mosaic mural featuring photos portraying the essence of volunteerism and philanthropy in our community. This will culminate in an island-wide photo reality race which will act as a rousing finale to the event. Please let us know if you would also like to put up a performance during the event. Performances (each of between 15 to 30 minutes duration) are scheduled between 12 noon to 2 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm on 6 and 7 December and 12 to 2 pm on 8 December 2006. Do contact either Adelina or myself if you would like to participate in the performances.
We look forward to hearing favourably from you for both the Charity Fiesta as well as the Giving Month 2006. Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Ronald Lee
